Live by the book
Author: Howard J. HendrixCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetails"Living by the Book" by Professor Howard J. Hendrix and his son is devoted to the topic of studying the Bible. The division of the book was made according to three stages of this process - observation, interpretation and application of the Holy Scriptures in the life of Christians. The publication contains graphic illustrations, saturated with an abundance of examples and practical tasks. The main advantages of the book include an engaging presentation of information and a strong emphasis on "life according to the Book". The authors do not urge the reader to limit himself only to the accumulation of biblical knowledge, but indicate the spheres and methods of its application.
The accessibility of the presentation and the absence of complex terminology allows the book to be used not only by students of theological seminaries, pastors and preachers, but also in home groups of all Christians.Read moreForeword

The inspiration and authority of the Bible
Author: Rene PashDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsOne of the most important questions facing a Christian is the question of the inspiration and authenticity of the Bible. It is clear that the truths concerning God, Christ, and salvation are of the greatest importance to him. But how, if not through Scripture, can we learn about these truths?
That is why the question of the inspiration of the Bible is so important: if it really comes from God, if it is endowed with His authority and is fully accessible to man, then the whole religion of revelation rests on a solid foundation. If one doubts the revelation or recognizes it only partially, in accordance with the experience or opinion of the reader, then everything wavers.
The purpose of this book is to first of all show that the Bible itself speaks about revelation and inspiration, then we will examine the testimonies of Christ and the Church about the Bible and, finally, we will make an overview of some of the opinions related to it.Read moreForeword

Doctor René Pasch was brought up in a Christian home under the guidance of a spiritual mother (his father died when the boy was ten years old). He received his doctorate in law in Lausanne, Switzerland. By that time he was still an unbeliever. As a lawyer, he joined the business staff of a large chemical plant in Basel, Switzerland. It was there, at the age of 24, that he was converted through reading the Bible, which he had acquired. In the end, he became one of the founders of the Christian brotherhood InterVarsity in Switzerland and France.

Jesus and the story of redemption in Scripture
Author: Matthew FraserCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsWho is Jesus? What is the Gospel? What is the Bible about? These are important questions, deeply connected to each other, and they are all part of the same story. Our book is about this story. It will be about how God planned to redeem the human race and how the plan of His compassionate love was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, in His death on the cross and resurrection. But that's not all. The love of God calls us to live life in the light of what the Bible reveals to us, to realize God's plan in earthly history and to worship the great, merciful God who created our world. In this book you will take a journey through the Bible. The author invites you to look into the heart of the Scriptures and urges you, having grasped the biblical truth, to submit your life to it.

Annunciation
Author: Mack StylesCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsEvery few years, churches get involved in a new kind of evangelistic activities. Leaders develop a program, and church members jump into battle. And imagine a church where the gospel has entered the general culture. Pastors talk about their faith openly and constantly. Church members follow their example, encouraging each other to consider the gospel as an inseparable part of life.
This is the gospel that this short and exciting book is talking about. No programs and ideas for evangelization - rather a new look at how the church will learn to live and evangelize together.
"This book about the gospel glorifies Christ, it is imbued with the evangelical spirit - a book unlike any other. It does not offer methods of personal preaching, but encourages us to proclaim the unheard, unprecedented news about Jesus to everyone, the whole church, and everyone to reap the fruits of the gospel." — Richard Chin, director of the Australian Evangelical Student Society, secretary of the International Evangelical Student Society for the South Pacific region.

Not a fan
Author: Kyle IdlemanCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsThe dictionary defines the word “fan” as “an ardent supporter.” Fans want to be close to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that they have to make sacrifices or make changes in their lives. They pray, go to church, and consider themselves Christians. But is this the relationship Jesus wants with His followers?
Jesus was never interested in followers. He never sought fans.
Not a Fan challenges you to rethink what it means to be a Christian. Kyle is candid, revealing uncomfortable truths and inviting you to take an honest look at your relationship with God. His call to follow Jesus may seem radical, but it is exactly what Jesus wants from every believer.

Bonhoeffer. Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Conspirator – A Righteous Man Against the Third Reich
Author: Eric MetaxasCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsCan anyone feel the evil of the 20th century more acutely than a person of faith?
While Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were seducing a nation, intimidating an entire continent, and attempting to exterminate Europe’s Jews, a small group of dissidents and saboteurs were working to destroy the Third Reich from within. One of them was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author known for his spiritual classics The Cost of Discipleship and Life Together. He was executed in a concentration camp in 1945 for his role in a secret plot against Adolf Hitler.
The book “Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Conspirator – Righteous Man Against the Third Reich” is a testament to one man’s incredible faith, his struggle to free his people from the curse of Nazism. It breathes a joy that even death cannot overshadow. “Bonhoeffer” is the story of a life filled with a desire for truth and justice, the story of a man who fought on behalf of those who faced relentless evil.Read moreHoly sinner

Systematic theology
Author: Louis BerkhofCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetails"If we define theology as a systematized knowledge of God, from whom everything originates, to whom everything stands and to whom everything is directed, then it is necessary to begin precisely with the teaching of God. Not only should we not be surprised that dogmatics begins with the study of God, but, on the contrary, we should expect that all sections of systematic theology will be devoted to the study of God in one way or another. After all, theology as a whole is conceived as the teaching of God, only in its first part God is the direct object of study, and in others He is studied indirectly." Louis Berkhof, from the chapter "The Existence of God"
"This book is a storehouse of information and theological thought; moreover, it is probably the best one-volume theology textbook among all theological traditions. I myself rely heavily on Berkhof's research on the immutability of God and the personality of the Holy Spirit." Wayne Grudem
"Berkhof can become our friend and mentor. He helped many of his contemporaries not to fall into heresy, igniting people's hearts and tearing them out of the routine of Christian life." Jeff Thomas
"The Systematic Theology of Berkhof has been a classic textbook in many Reformed seminaries for many years." Robert Raymond
"This book is still the best introduction to Reformed theology ever written in English." Richard Muller

The shepherd is the leader
Author: Timothy WhitmerCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsThe main idea of this book is simple: "The main responsibility of church leaders is to shepherd God's flock." After all, the very word "pastor" comes from the Latin word meaning "shepherd". But, as you will see, shepherding is the responsibility not only of those who are called to be pastors, but also of those who are called to be presbyters or carry other similar services in our churches. You will make sure that pastoralism constitutes the very essence of the biblical concept of leadership. Unfortunately, in many churches this is not given due importance.
Church leaders are called to be pastors, not governing councils. The main vocation of every church leader is to be the shepherd of the community. Pastoral service includes four tasks - to know, to ask, to guide and protect church members at the macro level (at the level of the entire community) and at the micro level (in personal care). To cope with these tasks, Timothy Z. Whitmer offers a plan of ministry from seven essential elements. It is the totality of all components that will help church leaders achieve success in pastoral service to their communities.
The book is intended, firstly, to convince you that the concept of pastoring includes everything that a church leader should do, and secondly, to help those who want to start (or improve) pastoral ministry among their parishioners. And although I am a professor of theology and teach in a seminary, this book is not a scientific work. However, I hope that it will be useful to everyone who studies (and teaches) in seminaries. I teach practical theology , and I was prompted to write this book by concern for pastoral care. I hope that my humble work will help you apply the principles of biblical shepherding in your ministry.
Moving from chapter to chapter, we will first consider the biblical and historical foundations, and then the practice of shepherding. I hope that in the first section I will be able to convince you that shepherding should be your constant concern, and in the following sections we will talk about how to plan and organize pastoral ministry. The main place in the section devoted to pastoral practice is occupied by seven principles of successful pastoral ministry. You must apply them all, you cannot choose only those that you like, otherwise you will not be able to successfully carry out your plan of pastoral ministry. And, finally, in the final chapters, we will talk about the important consequences that can be expected where pastoral ministry is consistently performed, and about some practical aspects of this ministry.
I pray to God that your flock will not be like "sheep without a shepherd." Let it be said about you, as about the shepherd king David: "And he shepherded them in the purity of his heart and led them with wise hands" (Ps. 77:72).

Marriage, divorce and remarriage in the Bible
Author: Jay AdamsCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsMany complex problems are associated with divorce and remarriage, over which evangelical believers around the world are struggling to solve. Others sincerely strive to follow the Bible, but are embarrassed by difficulties of an exegetical nature. Some simply follow established opinions, even if they contradict the Scriptures.
Jay Adams argues that we need to gain a clear understanding of such biblical concepts as marriage, divorce, and remarriage. We need to know when divorce is wrong and when it is not; What is the meaning of forgiveness and when is a repeat marriage permissible?

Gospel for real life
Author: Jerry BridgesCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsThe Good News is not only for the future eternal life, but also for the present, present...
Why are so few Christians able to fully experience the liberating power of the Gospel? The author convincingly proves that the poverty of our Christian experience is largely the result of a misunderstanding of the depth of the Good News itself. The key to solving our problems is not to make even more efforts to live a holy life, but to understand even more fully the amazing work of Christ, accomplished on the cross - and meet each new day with a more vivid awareness of this grace.

The gospel at work
Author: Greg Gilbert, Sebastian TragerCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsWhat is the divine purpose for your work? Many Christians fall into one of two traps at work: they either get lazy or allow work to become an idol. In the book "The Gospel at Work", the authors show how the transforming power of the Gospel can change the way we work. It is the Gospel that can free us both from an all-consuming obsession with a career and from a negligent attitude to our daily work duties. The authors show how the Gospel gives freedom to work in simplicity of heart, as for the Lord.

When love rules
Author: Jonathan LymanCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsRepresenting love without boundaries, evaluative judgments and conditions, peace justifies any desires and feelings and rejects power. This kind of love is mistakenly proclaimed to be the only true path to self-expression and self-discovery. He diminishes the holy love of God, revealed in the Bible, and gives it another definition.
In this book, Jonathan Lyman guides the reader to the biblical definition of love and answers important questions. What understanding of love is wrong? What is God's love comparable to and why is it offensive? How does the theme of love relate to the Church? In the era of consumerism, individualism, and tribalism, Lyman shows how God reveals holy love and the power of peace through people living in a Christian community. He reflects His love through the Church.

The writings of John Newton
Author: John NewtonCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetails"Newton's letters, in which he addresses a wide variety of pastoral issues, are pure gold. Newton was able to apply great theological doctrines of faith to the circumstances of the lives of friends, parishioners, and even strangers who wrote to him with a request to give advice. In his letters, he is often harsh, but love always sounds in them.
Newton's writings influenced both my pastoral work and my preaching. Newton not only called people to a holy life, but also analyzed their motivations in detail and showed what prevents them from obeying God. For more than a decade, I have been constantly reading and re-reading these writings, and they have taught me to better understand the hidden motives of human actions, so that, preaching and applying the high doctrines of grace, not only appeal to the will, but also achieve a change of heart" - Timothy Keller

A real community
Author: Jerry BridgesCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsFraternal relations are much more than a friendly conversation after the service. The biblical model of communication in New Testament times - koinonia - is a rich in meaning and multifaceted concept, which includes covenant relationships, cooperation in the cause of the gospel, communication with God and each other, as well as the ability to share earthly possessions and resources.
In the author's characteristic lively, sober and thoughtful manner, he convincingly shows how understanding and applying the biblical concept of koinonia helps each of us practice true communion.
This book is about how God wants to see the Body of Christ here on earth, what is sorely lacking in the modern church, and what a real community of believers should be - both for its members and for the outside people whom it is called to serve.Read moreIntroduction

The transforming power of the Gospel
Author: Jerry BridgesCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsThis book is the result of the author's long-term search for a biblical understanding of the source of the holy life of believers and spiritual transformation into the image of Christ. Honest, deeply rooted in the Scriptures, she lovingly teaches us that the motivating force in the pursuit of holiness is not longing or even fear of hell, but only gratitude to God for the work of Christ, done for our sake and given in the revelation of the Gospel. Only such obedience is acceptable to God and can bring joy to our hearts, and the Holy Spirit simultaneously works in us and makes us able to work. And that only in daily trust in Christ do we find a true and solid basis for striving for spiritual transformation, to which the apostle Paul calls us.

Victory over death
Author: Erwin W. LucerCategoryDescriptionContentAuthorDetailsEarly Christians mockingly called death a tyrant whom Christ overthrew. They firmly knew that the end of their earthly life was actually a glorious beginning, and that the best awaited them ahead.
Can we gain the same confidence? Can today's believers meet death with the same courage, calmness and triumph? Of course, - answers the author of this book. - The death of Jesus was not the end, but the beginning of new relationships, and if we take an example from our Teacher, then when the last time comes, we will be ready. He died in faith and was rewarded by resurrection - the same awaits us.
