Fifteen-year-old Marie Durand was arrested in 1730. She was taken from her home in a village in southern France for a crime involving her brother, who was a Protestant preacher. Marie was imprisoned in the Tower of Constance for 38 years.

Simonetta Carr tells the inspiring story of a woman who could have found liberation by abandoning her Protestant faith, but who held fast to the truth and encouraged others to do the same.

Beautiful illustrations, a simply told story, and interesting facts introduce young readers to the challenges faced by Protestants in 18th-century France and show that even a life spent in prison can be lived in service to Christ and others.
