Humility is a virtue that we admire so much in others and which (if we are honest) is so lacking in ourselves. The Bible clearly defines that it - along with love - is the cornerstone of the Christian's character, on which everything else is built, and the distinguishing mark of a life of faith. So how to make humility our daily practice and learn to grow in it?

The author believes that in the Beatitudes, Jesus gave us comprehensive instructions on what humility looks like in action. Starting with the recognition of the poverty of the spirit - our absolute inability to please God by our own efforts - through the deepest sorrow for our sins, the thirst for righteousness and purity of heart, as well as the experience of being persecuted for the truth, we discover for ourselves that humility in itself is a great blessing.
