Amy Carmichael

Amy Carmichael was born in 1867 in Ireland and died in 1951 in India, where she had served in the missionary field since the age of twenty-eight. Before India, she had already served extensively in Scotland, England, and even Japan, but the main work of her life was the salvation of children from the physical and moral destruction that threatened them from the Hindu temples. For this purpose, the Donavoor community was founded in 1901, which became a home and a place of Christian education for hundreds of young children from the Tinnevelly district in South India. Donavoor is still active today, 120 years after its founding, because from the very beginning, Amy Carmichael and her friends sought to ensure that the love of Calvary was always the basis of the community's activities.
