David Finsey evaluates the evidence for the authorship and date of each book of the New Testament.
In this work, the author focuses on the historical and cultural background of Palestine and the Roman Empire several centuries before and after the birth of Christ. Finsey introduces the reader to the historical, religious, and social life of Jesus. The author then examines the four Gospels and the beginnings of the early church.
He introduces the rest of the New Testament with a chapter on the religious and social origins of the Greco-Roman world, followed by chapters on the life of Paul, the Pauline epistles, the conciliar epistles, and the book of Revelation. This important survey concludes with a chapter on the text and canon of the New Testament.
Dr. Finsey draws on the latest archaeological and textual evidence to help clarify many New Testament passages. Illustrations, tables, and appendices make this a valuable resource for students and the general reader alike.
