“The Intellectual Challenge of the Gospel” is a concise work by Cornelius Van Til, a Christian philosopher and theologian best known for his scholarly works on presuppositional apologetics.

In The Intellectual Challenge of the Gospel, the author examines the intellectual challenges that modern worldviews pose to Christianity. Cornelius Van Til emphasizes the need for Christians to remain steadfast in their faith in the objective truth of the Gospel, despite the prevailing “wisdom” of the world. He also encourages believers to have complete confidence that their labor in the Lord is not in vain; he argues forcefully that the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

Корнеліус Ван Тіл

Cornelius Van Til (1895-1987) was a Dutch-American scholar. He was born in Holland, (now the Kingdom of the Netherlands), but emigrated with his parents to the United States as a child. As a professor of apologetics, he argued that Christian faith was the only basis for rational thought, and that all human reasoning depended on adherence to God's revelation in Scripture. Cornelius Van Til emphasized that non-Christian worldviews were inherently false because they rejected the authority of the Bible. He sought to show that a Christian worldview was a necessary prerequisite for knowledge and logic, challenging the idea that human reason could be neutral or autonomous. His works had a great influence on Reformed theology and apologetics.
