Ichthyus: Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior
Ichthys. What a strange book title! But, believe me, you have already seen ichthys. This is the Greek word for "fish". You have probably seen a "fish" on a car bumper or on someone's jacket lapel badge.
"Fish" is an ancient symbol of the Christian faith. This simple sign was drawn with a stick on the ground or scratched on the wall to express one's Christian faith.
The five Greek letters that make up the word ichthys are the first letters of the most simple confession: "Jesus Christ is God's Son, the Savior." To draw this symbol meant to say silently: "I am a Christian."
To be a Christian means to know Christ. The purpose of our book is to consider what the New Testament says about the personality of Jesus.
Derek Thomas is a professor of systematic and historical theology at the Reformed Theological Seminary (Atlanta, Georgia), pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina, and the author of many books.
Sinclair B. Ferguson served as senior pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina, currently holds the position of Professor of Systematic Theology at Redeemer's Seminary. Dallas, Texas. He wrote about 30 books, many of which have been translated into Russian.

Gerhardus Vos — (1862-1949) was born in the Netherlands and at the age of 19 moved with his family to Grand Rapids, USA. In 1883, Vos entered the Princeton Theological Seminary, knowing, in addition to his native Dutch, German, English, French, Latin, Hebrew and Greek at the time of admission. Later, he received a doctorate from the University of Strasbourg for studies in the field of Arabic language. In 1886 Abraham Kuiper strongly invited the twenty-four-year-old Vos to take the position of professor of the Old Testament at the Free University of Amsterdam, and Herman Bavink - at the University of Kampen. Due to family circumstances, Vos stayed in the USA. In 1892, he became the first professor of biblical theology at Princeton Seminary. His best friends were other Princeton professors: Benjamin Warfield and Woodrow Wilson (the future 28th president of the United States). Warfield once said to their mutual friend Louis Berkhof: "I think he (Vos) is the best exegete of those who taught at Princeton." Gerhardus Vos is considered the founder of the discipline of biblical theology in the Reformed tradition.
