Each generation tends to consider itself more enlightened than those who came before it. Certainly, the Church has made mistakes throughout its history—and yet none of the understanding we have today would have been possible without the efforts and even some mistakes of our ancestors. The first volume of 2000 Years of the Power of Christ covers the period from the first century AD to the early Middle Ages. From the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo to the first apologetics in history, this historical period laid the foundations for what we now study as Church history.
